Liposuction
Slim and Reshape for an Enhanced Self Image
Liposuction in Fargo, ND
Liposuction is a fat removal surgery where excess fat cells are suctioned away using a thin tube. Liposuction creates a smoother, slimmer appearance to the body where it is performed. Over 250,000 liposuction surgeries are performed a year, making the procedure the second most popular plastic surgery treatment in the country. Though women represent most of those undergoing liposuction, it is also a popular surgical option for men.
The most common areas of the body where patients seek liposuction are the upper arms, abdomen, upper and lower back, thighs, male chest area, buttocks, and the hip area. Liposuction can also be performed on the jowls, neck, or chin area. Liposuction is ideal for patients at or near their ideal body weight and who wish to target stubborn problem areas that have remained despite healthy eating habits and an active lifestyle.

FAQ: Liposuction
Can I combine liposuction with other procedures?
For some patients, it makes sense to combine liposuction with other treatments to cut down on recovery time. Many patients combine their procedure with surgeries such as a tummy tuck, breast augmentation, or body lift.
What are the risks to liposuction?
As with any surgery there are potential complications that patients should be aware of. These may include excessive bruising, bleeding, and reactions to the anesthesia. Though uncommon, some of the more serious risks associated with liposuction include nerve damage and infection.
How long is the recovery from liposuction?
After the procedure, patients can expect to have swelling and bruising in the areas where liposuction was performed. Most patients will be able to return to their normal schedules one to two weeks after surgery, though they may still experience discomfort when sitting or standing for long periods depending on where liposuction was performed. Any heavy exertion or vigorous exercise should be avoided for four to six weeks.
Are liposuction results permanent?
Though liposuction does permanently remove the targeted fat cells, it doesn’t prevent future weight gain. If you maintain your weight and live a healthy lifestyle, you can expect positive long-term results. However, re-gaining weight would likely result in the accumulation of new fat that might require further procedures.
How much does liposuction cost in North Dakota?
The cost of liposuction can vary. After your consultation with Dr. Adams, we will provide a detailed cost estimate, and will also discuss payment methods, scheduling, and financing options. In general, price shopping for surgery isn’t recommended. It is best to choose a plastic surgeon that you are comfortable with, trust, and one that has the proper training from an accredited plastic surgery training program.
